HR contacted me first for a brief screening where they kept crowbarring in the “Tribal Values”. The next day I spoke with the hiring manager who was very nice and smart, which seemed promising. A few days later they send a follow up email stating that I need to prepare a presentation solving very complex actual real world business challenges about essentially overhauling their e-commerce sales strategy. They even wanted to provide actual company sales data and expected me to sign an NDA to work on this “example” to be presented to an interview panel for review. This was not a mock presentation exercise but rather unpaid consultant work. Needless to say I declined to move ahead as my time and experience is valuable and will not be given away for free. The other red flag is the cult like way they carry on about the “Tribe” and calling their bosses “coaches” and so forth. It’s all just off putting disingenuous corporate speak nonsense.
