WD Staff Process Engineer Electroplating and CMP interview questions

Had a short phone screen with recruiter. He asked whether I had the required experience in both electroplating and CMP but i did not have CMP experience (but able to learn). No chance to move forward due to lack of experience. Electroplating engineers are quite rare so not sure why the selectivity. The salary seems a bit low for staff level as well- received an offer for another company that offered the max of the range posted for this specific position for a level also below staff.
