I was reached out to by a member of recruiting to see if I was interested in a position in wpengine. I was interested and a phone interview was set up with the recruiter. I was asked some standard questions about experience , salary expectations etc. After this I was invited to do a code exercise that was suppose to take 2 to 3 hours. This code exercise is quite large and realistically takes more than a day to get to get to production standard (which is a requirement in the code exercise spec) This includes testing, unit tests and providing documentation to build and run. I received a generic rejection email a few days later. After reaching out to get more feedback, I was informed that they have too many applications to provide feedback to an individual applicant. After spending over a day on a code exercise, for a company that reached out to me, I was very disheartened to be not given any feedback what so ever as to what was wrong with my code exercise Edit: After I made a complaint, the recruiter collected some feedback and called with the information. Although I did not agree fully with some of the comments it was nice to get the feedback. The recruiter was very nice about the whole situation and was very informative and professional with dealing with my complaint and providing feedback.
