The process started smoothly with two positions (Team lead and individual contributor role) on the table. There were 3 rounds. The technical round with the regional manager, then a case study discussion and another technical with the Team Global head.
It all went smooth and polite. However, the rejection came for lack of team management skills which was a known fact before and was discussed in initial rounds that there would be a learning curve for the same. It wasn't delightful not considered for the non-managerial role, which was initially offered and was informed to be available.
The team needs to collaborate and discuss its requirements and opportunities before meeting candidates and sharing false hopes.
Price Paid for transparency and honesty! Kudos to the HR team suffering the ambush from both the parties involved.
