I applied for this role at the end of November, but the process didn't begin until January—the first sign of a drawn-out timeline. I want to highlight that the hiring manager was genuinely lovely; our conversations were engaging, and the team seemed great throughout the three interview stages.
However, the professional courtesy stopped after the final round in early February, which included a task completed on my own time. Following that effort, communication went cold. My initial follow-up email was ignored entirely.
Seeking closure, I eventually sent another request for feedback, this time CC’ing the hiring manager. This finally triggered an immediate response; conveniently, I was told the hiring manager was making a decision that very day and would be in touch.
It is incredibly disappointing to invest months into a process and hours into a task only to be met with silence until a manager is CC’d. A company that asks for this level of effort owes candidates the basic respect of a timely update.
Streamline your hiring timeline. Leaving a candidate in limbo from November to February and ignoring follow-ups after a final round is unprofessional, regardless of how pleasant the individual interviewers are.
