The interview took place in 4 stages: initial phone screen with recruiter, overnight coding challenge, live code, cultural phone screen with Wayfair Labs manager. Initial phone screen: Recruiter asks questions about experience, what you're looking for in a company, what type of person you are (self starter, critical thinker, good collaborator...). At the end they will give you a link to a code sharing app with a overnight challenge. Overnight challenge: The overnight coding challenge was the vector of a vector question. Given a 2 dimensional array [[],[]] how many possible combinations are there. Live Code: This will be with an engineer and they will first ask about the coding challenge so make sure you can talk through it. After, you will get a block of PHP code (don't worry php isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be) that you will have to talk through. Read it line by line slowly, it all makes sense. Next the engineer will ask you to locate 2 bugs in the code. After the PHP walkthrough, you'll have to answer one basic interview live code question. Final culture phone screen: Similar questions to the initial screen but with a few more detailed questions such as "describe a difficult situation you were in and how you handled it". Be as descriptive as possible.
