Initial interview. Asked a lot of questions about background and really wanted very specific questions on metrics used on work projects. Asked specific company questions regarding my currently company regarding how many customers we have etc
I applied online. I interviewed at Wayfair (Boston, MA) in Jan 2021
Interview
Phone Screen, 2 Case Reviews, 2 Behavioral Interviews.
The recruiting team sends lots of prep before each round, and there is a lot of opportunities to ask questions/ get feedback from recruiters.
The Case Review process is incredibly archaic for a tech company. The expectation is to solve real-life business problems using complex formulas and long division on a piece of paper- no calculator. You're truly on the spot and set up to fail despite prep materials since the prep focuses on how you answer the questions vs. working through any analysis by hand which is a key component.
Behavioral questions were similar in both sections despite the intent to focus on two different skillsets. It's on you as the candidate to take those questions and cater answers to the category. Despite prepping, this was another surprise to me very late in the process.
Feedback centered on the execution of the formulas in my second case and how I answered interview questions in the final round. After making it that far (which took about 8 weeks over the holidays) I would have expected a more thoughtful reason that is actually relevant to how I would work or to my experience.
