Phone interview and then a video interview. The phone interview was quite easy and pleasant--I actually really liked talking to their content development specialist. She actively listened and asked questions that built off my answers. The questions themselves were quite simple, "tell me about yourself," work history, what you'd like in an employer, etc. Before this, I had to edit content they sent to me as well as write something about a product they chose and supply samples of my own work, which was easy enough. The video interview was also easy, but (I think) I could tell what it was that led to them ghosting me, and it's honestly a really trivial reason. I'm highly qualified for the position and it seemed like the only "wrong" thing I said was about going elsewhere but home (cafes, etc) to do work when the position actually requires you to stay home. This is the one thing I spoke about that wasn't mentioned in the phone interview, so I'm fairly certain that is what lost me the opportunity, which is extremely disappointing. Also extremely disappointing is getting ghosted. Our communication up until that video interview was quick and great, and I really thought this was a good company, but not so much now. Great interview experience nonetheless.

I was contacted for a phone interview pretty quickly after submitting my resume. There was also an editing task to complete first. The recruiter asked me if I was okay taking an "entry-level" job. I did not remember applying for entry-level jobs, so I re-read the descritpion. Nope, mid-level skills and a vast expectation of job duties. After getting a "starts at" number from the recruiter, it became obvious that Webstaurant uses "entry-level" as code for "vastly underpaid." Word of advice if you are entry level: no editing job should start at $40K a year! Especailly not at a large e-commerce business. That was an entry-level rate 10 years ago! I declined the interview. They want to underpay someone to do five different jobs. No thanks!
