I got in touch with the company's HR through linked in. Initial conversations with HR went well. The followup technical phone interview went well. This is when I got invited for a 3 hour in-person interview.
To prepare for the interview I was invited to review the company's website. I did some research and did not really like what I found - the company claims to have 2 million wedding vendor reviews, but majority of them are clearly fake - just check Yelp or google "Wedding wire fake reviews". I was able to leave a review for a company immediately upon signing up, without even verifying my email address. The review was live 10 minutes later.... Not a good start, but I figured I would check the company anyway.
The in-person interview was awkward, after a tour of the company, I was left in a messy, dimly lit conference room with no windows. Ok... The interview consisted of meeting with 3 groups of people - chief architect, engineers and the product team. HR was not there to guide the process, and engineers whom I met were obviously not interested in meeting me, this was just another appointment on their calendar. They kept glancing on my resume as if it was the first time they were seeing it. None of the engineers could clearly explain what it is they are working on, or what "unlimited paid time off" really is, just that typically they don't feel the need for unlimited PTO.
At some point towards the middle of the interview I realized that I don't really want to work here. At the end of the interview the CTO was not interested in meeting me and I was ushered out of the building.
