I had 2 phone interviews; 1 with the HR Manager and 1 with another Director. The 1st interview was pretty standard and went well. 2nd was scheduled for the following week. The director called an hour early and left a message staying he was confused with the timezone difference. When we finally connected, he started by informing me that the HR manager was going to be terminated the next day. He wanted to be up front with me. Why?? He spent the next 20 minutes or so telling me about his work history and his qualifications for his current role. I almost felt that I was interviewing him. During the interview he responded to one of my answers about my experience by saying he wouldn't have answered that way. I can only assume it was his first time interviewing a candidate.
