Interview
I previously interviewed for the same position at a different location. The interview process went well, but they ultimately decided to go with another candidate. Shortly after, the recruiter reached out to let me know that I had been a close second choice candidate and asked if I would be interested in interviewing for the same job at another location. In his email, he let me know that, going into the interview, I had a recommendation from the last hiring manager.
I went into the interview on a positive note considering the recommendation and the positive interactions I had during the previous interview cycle. However, the experience quickly soured as soon as the interview with the new hiring manager began. He pulled up my resume and immediately pointed out what he perceived to be my lack of experience. At one point, he called me "untraditional" for the role. He then went on to tell me that he was "untraditional" for his own role, but it was ok for him, but wasn't ok in my case. It sounds ridiculous, but that's what he said. I felt completely disrespected and that the interview was over in the first few minutes. He showboated during the entire interview about his management skills and talked about how he is not a micromanager while citing examples of how he oversees every detail for every person who works for him.
After speaking with him, I definitely wouldn't want to work for someone who openly disrespects candidates during a time where they are supposed to convince you that this is a place you would want to work. I felt belittled and my background, skills, and experiences - which exceeded the required qualifications for the position and got me a recommendation from another manager - were completely diminished. I wish I would have just ended the interview when it became clear that he had no intention of actually considering me for the position. It was a complete waste of time, and, unsurprisingly, I never heard anything from the company following the interview.
The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at WellSpan Health (Ephrata, PA) in Apr 2014
Interview
Was a smooth and straightforward process. First I met with HR to review some standard stuff, then to the interview. Standard managerial and scenario questions. They ended up offering the position to someone with way more experience, but the process was positive.
