      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Wells Fargo in Apr 2023

      Interview

I applied online. From there it took about 3 weeks from submitting application to hear back from Recruiter and set up a phone screen. Easily the nicest Recruiter I've ever dealt with. After passing the screen we set up my formal interview. It was conducted 2 weeks later. They were attempting to get through all phone screens first and then interview all prospective candidates the same week. The interview was an hour long panel consisting of the hiring manager and 2 of their associates. As is standard with many large firms they conduct interviews using the STAR method. Each interviewer took turns and asked 2 questions. I appreciate that they took the time to explain which core value the forthcoming question aligned to. Really gave a clue about which way the question when asked would be headed. (Oh you're talking about resiliency, the question is probably going to be about pivoting or overcoming a challenge). This tactic made the STAR process somewhat easier IMO. BUT I will say the questions asked were a bit tougher than the average STAR. In most interviews that use this format you get some version of.... "Tell me about a time....xyz" and it's fairly broad. e.g. - Tell me about a time you didn't agree with your Supervisor, tell me about a time you failed, etc. The questions asked were multifaceted and hyper-specific so it could be easy for someone not to have a clean example to provide. (e.g. Tell me about a time you were leading a project, faced challenges and had to pivot. How did you use technology to remedy the situation AND how did you communicate any needs/pain points to Superiors.) Having 4-5 specific points to hit for each question asked was rather daunting. I think it also assumes a level of autonomy that most positions don't allow. Everyone I interviewed with was really nice and approachable. Ended up hearing back with an offer within a weeks time. The background check was incredibly fast. I have heard some horror stories in the last couple years of checks taking 5-7 weeks. Mine was back in about 3 business days. They did credit, FBI background with fingerprints, and employment history. There was no drug test. At least not for this position. All in all from application to offer the process took about 6 weeks.
