Filled out an application online on the Wellstar site and was sent an assessment, which I completed the next day, then the recruiter called to setup a phone screen two days later. Phone screen was pretty standard and non technical. I told them I was about 10 days further in the process with some other companies (which I was) but was very interested in this position, so if we could compress the timeline, that would be awesome! Spoke to the hiring manager for an hour, who was a really smart guy and someone I would have got along with very well it seems. About a week later I spoke with the VP for an hour, who I was flattered took the time to interview me even though she was on vacation that week. I notified them I had another offer but I was certainly interested in discussions if they wanted to make one as well. That was the last I heard from them. There were some concerning answers to some of the questions I had about the department strategy and makeup, so it was probably a good pass for all parties.
HR Pros, please make sure you don't leave your candidates twisting in the wind. Most of us understand that at the 10-14 day mark you've passed but if you do a phone screen, at least send out an e-mail to say "thanks but no thanks."
