**Heads up** Applicants are NOT told on the spot of their interview if they are chosen to be invited to training. Every applicant that completes their 3rd interview will be notified via phone call, whether you are invited to training or not. This makes it fair so that everyone has a chance. If they told you on the spot, then they'd likely run out of spots before getting through all the interviewees, meaning they could miss out on selecting better candidates. It also would be an unfair and ineffective method. Just letting you all know if you decide to apply again (which you should, if flying for HA is your dream!) I interviewed with them probably in the same round as you! Oct/Nov? Fellow interviewees including myself were told we would hear the news over the phone (starting a day after the last interview day).

Of all of the places in the world I've lived, I've called Hawaii home the longest. Yet preparing for this interview, and learning that mea ho'okipa is the credo for Hawaiian Airlines caused me to do some research of this word. The literal translation that I found was "I am the host". For me being a host for any guests in my charge starts with a show of respect for my guests and myself. Respect for my guests means that I'm listening to what's being asked of me and I'm communicating in a way that gives clear instruction when required and responses to questions as necessary. Another part of mea ho'okipa for me means that for new and returning visitors, I am their example of what they can expect as the much touted aloha spirit. I love my islands, it's my home, and I'm always excited to share the beauty of the islands. I keep myself well versed in what's new and trending and ways for my personal friends, visitors and guest to enjoy Hawaii differently than as a tourist. I want people to plan on returning because they understand why I love living here and call this place home. I am the ambassador of Ho'okipa, hospitality.
