I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Whiting-Turner (Baltimore, MD)
Interview
Initial interaction on campus; then trip to Baltimore to interview. Spoke with Division VP, VPs of two groups, and multiple PMs. Interview process lasted from 9am-4pm. Conversations were light; if the company brought you to their location they already trust in your abilities but they want to get to know you as a person. They stress that they only hire Project Engineers and then promote from within the company so most of their employees have been with the company for 15+ years.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Hardly any typical interview questions were asked. Conversations mostly revolved around getting to know your personality. They did ask what other firms you were interviewing with and several people continually asked if I had family in the area/ was I willing to relocate if they were to offer me the job.
I applied online. I interviewed at Whiting-Turner (Woodbury, NY) in Jan 2026
Interview
Was contacted 2 years after applying. It was a 4 hours interview process. Firstly, the VP gave us a presentation on the company's history, their service, and portfolio of their work. Then they conducted 1:1 interview with 3 employees at various levels. The interviews were very casual and aimed at a conversations type of interview. Alot of behavioral types of questions involving your experience. Some of the question they asked were repeats of the other interviewers, which made the later interviews stale and repetitive. Alot of young workers, which made it easier to connect with. Then they offered lunch at the break room, where you talk with other candidates and employees. Lastly, the VP gave the last presentation on benefits.

Interview
Smooth overall. Group interview with a PE and two PM's. Asked a little bit about my experience. Mostly explained what they did as a company. Everyone was very relaxed and it was an upbeat environment.

Screening interview followed by a phone interview then they paid for me to travel out to the office and complete several interviews from team members and the VP. They paid for a hotel, dinner, and team lunch.
