I applied online and was given a questionnaire to fill out, which contained standard HR type questions. About a week later I gave a phone interview with a research scientist, which wasn't too bad. Mainly questions about my resume, and asking for some elaboration on the questionnaire. I then gave another phone interview to another research scientist, which was more of the same. Afterwards, they flew me to Raleigh to give an onsite interview. The on site interview consists of a 30 min presentation to about a dozen or so research scientists, then 8 1 on 1 interviews. The interviews were very rough, it felt like more like an interrogation . They were mainly on the presentation and also my resume. The questions and the overall atmosphere were very aggressive and confrontational, but I guess that's what the work environment is like. Even during lunch, they were still grilling me with questions. The day started at 8am, and went on until 3:30pm.

Long but fair. Started with an HR interview where I was asked standard questions as well as a time where I had to solve a technical problem and the steps I took to do so, then a 2nd phone interview with a manager who was friendly and polite. I was asked a combination of questions from what I am looking for in a job culturally,, behavioral questions, and some very straightforward technical questions pertaining to LEDs and semiconductors. I am preparing for my 3rd interview now and was told to expect 4 total before an offer. All the interviews are still over the phone, none in person. For the 3rd interview I have been asked to prepare a 30 minute presentation on research or a project I have completed and to expect 30 minutes of follow up questions from 3-4 R&D managers.
