      User Experience Researcher Interview

      Jun 27, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at X in Jun 2016

      Interview

June 6th, 2016 - I applied online through directly through Twitter Careers website. June 13th, 2016 - A recruiter contacts me with a few questions about my immigration status (I'm not a US citizen) and asking for my availability for a 30 minute call. I replied right away. June 14th, 2016 - Another recruiter confirms the time and day for the phone interview. She said I would be talking with the manager. She's even provided his name and position. She said this would be an exploratory phone call. The call was scheduled to June 17th, 2016. June 17th, 2016 - It was a quick call. The manager spoke most of the time. He talked about the teams he was leading and the ones that had openings for. Really cool, by the way. It got me even more excited about the possibility of joining Twitter. Then he asked me to (1) tell him about my background, (2) talk about a project I worked on and (3) what I expected for my next position. The quality of the call was not good. At one point, in the middle of my talking, my phone rang again. It was him saying that the call got disconnected but he could hear me. He said we run out of time asked me if I had any quick question for him. I only had time to go over items (1) and (2). He ended the call by saying the recruiter would send me feedback. Upon finishing the call, I sent a Thank You note. Weird fact: Fifteen minutes after the call, I received an email titled "Your application for User Researcher at Twitter". The email came from a standard "no-reply" address, but it was completely empty. I did not know what to do about it. June 27th, 2016. I sent out an email to the recruiter to follow up. The recruiter replied saying that the team decided I was not a good fit.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at X in Jan 2018

      Interview

Phone interview - the job description said associate level, but the interviewer said they were looking for senior level. They seemed to find me personable, but they were looking for someone with a lot more experience. They definitely seemed to be in a rush to get off the phone, like I was wasting their time, but I had just responded to the public job description they provided so I'm not sure why they contacted me for the i'view in the first place.
