I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yahoo (New York, NY) in Mar 2021
Interview
I submitted my application through a referral link from a current employee. The process was fast, and I skipped the initial screener because of the referral. I was scheduled for my first, 45-minute interview with a current member of the team. This included standard interview questions. Then I was scheduled for a panel (final round) interview the following day, which included 4 30 minute interviews with other members of the team and the hiring manager. The interviews were well structured with little redundancy, one focused on behavioral questions, and one live product case study. The whole process went smoothly, and I was told I would be notified about their decision within 1-2 weeks.
After six weeks I have not heard any response from VM, and my application status on their ATS is still "under consideration." Given the flexibility I demonstrated accommodating their "rush" schedule for interviewing and the fact that I was a final round candidate, I would have at least expected to be notified that I wasn't selected.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Can you describe a time you made a mistake and how you responded to it?
The recruiting process itself was fairly standard, but communication between interview rounds could have been more transparent. There were extended periods without follow-ups, which made the overall experience feel less clear at times.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How have you used data to influence your decisions?
It was a very straightforward interview process. I did a short phone screener with HR and then met with the hiring manager via Zoom. The questions were everything you'd expect - past experience, situational questions, etc.
