I applied online. I interviewed at YipitData in Dec 2021
Interview
YipitData has a structured and very communicative approach to interviewing. They gave background information on the company prior to the interview, and provided details about the YipitData team member who would be conducting the interview. The interview process starts off with a "gating" assignment where you have to analyze a small dataset and prepare a concise summary report. If you make it to the next round, there is an interview with a YipitData team member to discuss your experience and interest in the role. If you make it past that round, there is a larger dataset that must be analyzed and summarized.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Common questions included "What skills do you want to gain or improve while working at YipitData?", "Why are you looking for a new job?" and a particularly interesting question was "Tell me about a time when you had to use data to quantitatively address a client’s business needs."
Very lengthy and unstructured take-home exercise. Feedback provided for take-home was rather vague and took over a week to be provided. However, everyone was very friendly throughout the whole process.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at YipitData in Mar 2022
Interview
The interview process was very thorough, from start to finish (offer) it took approximately 4.5 weeks. There are 2 take home exercises, the second which gives you a good understanding of the type of work you’ll do in the role, which is nice for understanding if you enjoy the work. The interviewers were all very transparent and easy going - I really enjoyed the overall process and appreciated the transparency and swift movement among every phase of the interviewing.

1. Tell me about a time you failed.
2. Tell me about a time you worked with a “difficult” co worker.
3. Why YipitData?
4. Why are you looking to move from your current company/role?
5. What do you like most about working at your current company and why? What do you least like about working at your current company and why?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at YipitData (New York, NY) in Jan 2022
Interview
The interview was relatively exhaustive, but nothing was asked that was ridiculous.
Steps of the process:
1) Quick excel project to analyze a dataset and identify anything interesting regarding the data
2) Zoom call with a Data Consultant at Yipit. Completely behavioral, basically to give more information on the role
3) A longer take-home assignment (1 week) that asks you to observe a massive dataset and project financial statistics. The dataset has some difficulties so cleaning/analysis needs to be done.
4) Two more zoom calls with other Data Consultants
5) Zoom interview with a leader (this case was a VP)
6) Reference checks, where you give 3 professional colleagues to answer questions regarding what it was like to work with you
