While I get that the interview process should be rigorous, I think the order of the process should be switched. I went through 3 meetings. 1) met someone for 1/2 hour who basically told me about YPTC and what its all about. 2) 2 hours of Excel testing and standard accounting principals 3) interview with a client manager for another 1-1/2 hours. The 2nd interviewer told me to read ASC 958-205 & 958-605 that NFP experience is not required, but then asked you what you remember reading and the differences in reporting. A few days later I received an email saying we are not moving me forward in the hiring process. #3 ASC 958-205 & 958-605 should be #2, and #2 should be #3. In today's world, everyone who is a competent financial person knows excel. So if #3 is a pivotal mtg, then dont waste your people's time nor mine on an excel and accounting test.
