      Thermal Engineer Interview

      Feb 8, 2018

      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ZT Systems (Secaucus, NJ) in Dec 2017

      Interview

Submitted my application and then was called by HR to describe the positions they had available, didn't ask me any questions other than what it was i was looking for. I then came in to meet with as someone else put it, a Taiwanese man. He simply started off by asking what I know about large scale computer cooling, and then what I know about the different pumps and things like that. I wish I had the job description so I would've been able to research the specifics of the tasks. When I told him I was looking for a more entry position as I know not much of the industry, he simply moved on to ask me what I remember while being in school. Valued a high GPA. I told him some heat transfer things I remembered. He seemed to perk up when i described the boundary layer, and fin equation. I think he would've loved if i had memorized those equations first. As we continued to talk about heat transfer subjects , we begin getting into an argument over weather the material used in convection matters. At some part I prove my point and chalk it over to a misunderstanding. I obviously came across as arrogant, and after that he ends the interview and I leave. Never hear back from them again.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at ZT Systems

      Interview

Had an hour long talk with the recruiter who was very happy to set up a meeting with the hiring manager. After a week of back and forth, got ghosted. Two months later, I get a call back from the same recruiter, apologizing and asking to schedule for the next round. Met with the team, which was highly unorganized, where people showed up late and came and went as they pleased. They didn’t even have a room booked for the interview. The hour long interview went on for about three hours. The hiring manager, the same Taiwanese guy mentioned in other reviews here, had ZERO people skill. I went to use the washroom and he led me showing the way and asked me a question as I was reliving myself. After all this, got ghosted for a month and when I finally reached out to the recruiter he let me know they were not interested. The work culture and team seemed very toxic and highly unorganized. Would not recommend.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ZT Systems in Mar 2024

      Interview

first round was a phone screening with the recruiter which went well. He was polite and helping. Second round was with the hiring manager and it was one of the worst interviews I've ever experienced. as soon as the interview started he said tell me about yourself and he didn't even let me finish. he started asking questions in a weird way. since he also had accent I had to ask him to repeat each question multiple times so I can understand what exactly he wanted. and no reaction on his face while I was answering. I didn't even know if my answers were right or wrong. I felt so uncomfortable during the whole time. Before the interview I was happy but when I met with the manager I was happy that I didn't get the job!
