I was called in for the recruiter screening within 48 hours of applying, so their recruiting team is doing a great job.
The hiring manager interview was via Zoom and for the entire 45 minutes all I could see was his right eye and forehead. The interview itself was mainly walking him through my resume, like he couldn't be bothered to read it before hand.
Regardless, I felt confident after the interview that I had the experience necessay for the role. Then came the rejection email......
I will preface this by saying that I've been an Assistant Controller for over 5 years and at a supervisor role for over 7 years. I made sure to bring up my supervisor experience multiple times during the interview.
I was rejected for not having supervising experience!!!! After inquiring for clarification, apparently they didn't like the fact that my current tole has a flat reporting structure and we all report to the Controller, which meant I haven't directly supervised a team for the last 1.5 years.
Apparently the 12.5 years of experience prior to my current role don't matter and weren't even taken into consideration if they're only focusing on my current role.
Classic "what have you done for me lately" culture at this place. I dodged a bullet. Thank you for the rejection.
