I applied online. I interviewed at Zoox (Foster City, CA) in Mar 2025
Interview
The Zoox interview process was very disorganized. After scheduling issues with HR and repeated reminders, the technical interview itself was ineffective. One interviewer had clearly not reviewed the problem I was supposed to solve (lane change) or the code I was expected to integrate, and was unable to answer clarifying questions, often followed by awkward silence. The other interviewer remained mostly silent and appeared to be in a supervisory role. What should have been a straightforward code integration discussion turned into me trying to figure out the task while the other interviewer struggled to follow. This level of disorganization and lack of preparation risks losing qualified candidates. As a candidate, I felt my time was wasted and I do not plan to engage with their hiring processes in the future.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked to integrate a lane-change feature in C++ on an online code-sharing platform, with much of the codebase already in place. My clarifying questions and assumptions couldn’t be addressed, as the interviewer seemed unprepared and unfamiliar with the problem.
