      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Zscaler (Palo Alto, CA) in Dec 2024

      Interview

Zscaler’s Disorganized, Misleading, Chaotic Hiring Process – A Job Offer From Them Isn’t a Guarantee. I have never encountered a more disorganized and misleading hiring process than the one I experienced with Zscaler. What started as a standard interview process on December 6, 2024, quickly turned into a months-long ordeal filled with unnecessary hoops, false reassurances, and ultimately, a rescinded job offer because they suddenly decided to 'go in a different direction.' If that was the case, wasn’t the time to go in a different direction before offering someone the job, involving so many people, and wasting months of everyone’s time? Why even start the hiring process if they couldn’t make a decision? The entire experience exposed how disorganized and indecisive their hiring team is. I interviewed with six different people, including senior leaders like the SVP of Growth Marketing, Senior Digital Marketing Manager, Director of Brand Campaigns, and Senior Director of Digital Marketing, plus multiple Talent Acquisition staff. After all of that, on January 22nd, I was formally offered the job and sent a benefits package via email. My start date was set for February 3rd, and I was told the official contract would follow in a few days since the CMO was traveling in Singapore. Then, the process dragged on unnecessarily. I was asked to provide five references, which wasn’t just a simple phone call—they required long, written assignments that took up even more of my time and my references' time. Meanwhile, communication became inconsistent. On January 28th, the hiring manager suddenly wanted a "check-in" call. During this conversation, she assured me the process was just taking longer than expected and that we had many good conversations. She said she was looking forward to me joining the team and that she really valued my experience. Given the formal job offer I had already received, I had no reason to doubt these reassurances. Then, out of nowhere, on January 31st, I received a final call from Talent Acquisition telling me that I no longer had the job because the company was “going in another direction.” That was it—no further explanation, no acknowledgment of the weeks of my time they wasted, no accountability for pulling a bait-and-switch after making an offer. This entire experience was deceptive, chaotic, and completely unprofessional. If you’re considering applying to Zscaler, be prepared for a long, disorganized, and frustrating hiring process that may lead absolutely nowhere. Even a formal job offer apparently means nothing here.
