The process took roughly three months. First was a typical phone screen. Second was a phone call with the hiring manager. Then was a call with HR to confirm some detail. Final stage was three in person interviews. After that was an offer. The offer came in roughly 5% below what had been discussed as a minimum salary with recruiting and then reaffirmed with HR. After receiving the offer, I counter with what I believe is a middle of the road percentage for salary negotiations, 15, enhanced PTO, a pushed start date, and a sign on bonus. I will agree that Zurn Elkay did agree to a sign on and pushed start date. However, they did not move on PTO or salary. I expressed my disappointment in this to the hiring manager and asked for a few days to consider. A few hours later the recruiter called me and pulled the offer, citing we were too far apart on salary and they didnt feel they could meet my ask. Again, no negotiations on the salary and below what the minimum that had been discussed from day 1 and reaffirmed with HR. I feel that if they were never going to meet the minimum ask, we should not have spent all of the time we did. The recruiter admitted some fault on this.
