      Social Media Manager Interview

      Sep 13, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Scottsdale, AZ
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at arrivia (Scottsdale, AZ) in Jun 2016

      Interview

The HR recruiter called me the day after I applied, he set up and interview for the following week, he also asked for any work samples (which I submitted). My first interview, I had with the Social Media Manager who was transitioning into a different role, and the new SEO Director, and the VP of Direct Sales. The interview was very professional, with a series of questions about my background, an overview of ICE, and the business objectives and importance of Social Media to helping achieve those objectives. I felt confident I could do the job and do it well, with my background in social working for a big brand for 6 years. The HR recruiter called me back a week later and asked if I could come down and meet with the VP of Sales one more time, and I agreed and came that afternoon. They offered me a job that evening and I started 5 days later. Great company, very professional, fun, and lot's of opportunity for young talent. If you know Digital, and can work on your own without micromanagement, but still be able to product effective results with the autonomy you've been given, you will thrive here.

      Question 1

Tell us about your social media background? How long were you at your last company? Why did you leave? What did you like about it? What did you not? What are your career goals? What do you know about ICE? Have you ever created social media campaigns? What social media tools have you used? Have you worked with a brand that has a call center and has negative reviews? What did your last company do to help improve the customer experience? Why should we hire you?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at arrivia (Scottsdale, AZ) in Jun 2017

      Interview

I was called to do a phone interview. They did not send me any confirmation via email though. The person who interviewed me spoke extremely fast and I could barely follow along. At the end the interviewer instructed me to write an analysis of two companies that seemed to be there competitors. The interviewer told me to email the person I originally spoke with and said needed it at soon as possible. I emailed them and never heard back, I called them to confirm they received it and they said yes. I then never heard back. I think it is extremely rude to just never follow up with candidates. Especially because I spent time doing an analysis and got it back same day. I sent a follow up email be still never heard anything back. Very unprofessional.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your review so that we can continually improve our interviewing process and candidate experience. We are so sorry to hear that you did not seem to have a good experience with us. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible with candidates through the hiring process, and we are sorry that you did not feel this way. Please know, the analysis we asked you to do was for our brands, and not for competitors, and has proven to be very useful in hiring for this particular role. Again, we are so sorry you did not receive the experience you were hoping for with us, and wish you the best in your job hunting.
