What was the most challenging thing you encountered during your previous employment.
The hiring manager started with an interesting question. He had a circuit drawn on his board and asked me to analyze it. It was a discrete (i.e. no ICs) linear voltage regulator. He wanted to know what the circuit's function was, asked me to describe how it worked and wanted me to pick some values to hit a target output voltage and then justify my choices.
