I was asked to create a full event series presentation deck as part of the interview process. In my 15 years of experience, I have never been required to complete such an extensive task for a job application.
They want to know that you can balance requests from multiple departments and intuitively prioritize them based on the event you're producing. They'll also ask questions about how well you communicate your production process *Hint* Internal Communication is HUGE - over communicating is preferred and explaining every step you take is important since you'll be working with people who aren't necessarily producers but responsible for the success of the event.
