I applied online. I interviewed at iPipeline (Cheltenham, England) in Jun 2024
Interview
An initial online psychometric and personality test, followed by a virtual interview, and then a final in person interview which required a 30/60/90 day plan. Followed by a separate HR interview / chat.
Fairly standard interview process initially and good that they bring people into their office to interview in person rather than being exclusively online.
Found the in person interview was okay, not the best but not the worst. Got the sense the interviewers hadn’t done much prep. Some of the HR questions were strangely worded, such as “tell me about your current manager” and “how do you like to be managed?”. HR also implied that there had been a lot of turbulence internally recently.
The feedback I received was that whilst my professional capabilities and experience in project management were evident , they felt my personality was a bit on the introverted side. I found this a strange comment as at no point during the interview did anyone ask me any questions about myself, my hobbies etc. The interview panel was 2 older men also, so not very diverse and not particularly easy to make small talk with as a 30 year old woman. It kind of felt like they were clutching at straws.
I’m a successfully project manager, I am very capable at talking to people and building professional relationships in order to drive work forwards . My ability to make small talk with two much older men during an interview process doesn’t fairly reflect this.
A week after the interview the recruiter called and said that they had decided to pull the job ad. When I asked if I would have been the successful candidate he said based on the comment about me being “a bit introverted” then probably not, but the panel never actually decided.
The entire thing was a gigantic waste of time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe your personality, are you more extrovert or introverted?
All stages were straight forward. Recruiter call, interview with senior management ( which you had to prepare a presentation in advance for ) and finally chemistry check with HR. Overall positive vibe and lovely office
