      Ap Accountant Interview

      Jul 22, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at inPowered AI (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2015

      Interview

Recruiter (outside agency I've worked with before) saw that I had Great Plains experience & asked if I'd be interested in talking to them because they specifically wanted someone with GP experience. I told her it had been several years, but that I'd look at some tutorials and could do a phone interview just to feel it out. Spoke to Controller who spoke about the company & what the job would entail. They recently had a temp person come in, and that person screwed up by duplicating some ACH transactions in GP which they had to go back and correct, so he was pretty focused on my experience with GP. I explained my previous work using the different modules & that I knew how to post & deal with batches, etc. He asked if I'd used Smart Lists, and I didn't in GP, but I knew what they were (basically memorized transactions), and didn't think it'd be a problem. He wanted someone who could come in & hit the ground running & didn't need a lot of hand-holding, and I told him I thought I could handle it. He asked if I could do an onsite interview so that I could talk to the AR accountant who has been handling the AP and who I'd be working with, so the recruiter set it up. I met with the Controller who was pretty stressed because they were getting ready for an audit and another round of funding. He went over stuff again, and I asked whether smart lists or procedure lists existed for what needed to be done since it was pretty much the same things every month. He said there wasn't which I thought was kind of strange. Anyways then I spoke to the AR guy, and got a totally different view of what the job entailed. He talked to me like I was already hired & basically gave me the low down of the office culture, recent history & what I'd be doing. Turns out he's completely documented all procedures step-by-step, so that made me totally confident I could manage it.
