Hi - Michael here – I must admit I had a chuckle at the comment, despite being saddened that it was a negative experience. I find that a huge investment in the time upfront to hire the right people is well worth it. Apologies if that seems to drag, but it’s extremely challenging both for the candidate and us to find a great mutual fit, and we spend much more time than the candidate with multiple senior team members in interviews, discussions and reviews of coding tests. We take hiring very seriously, as we’d rather take the extra time up front to make the right decision, and let the candidate fully understand what the role would be like. The three core things we don’t compromise on are technical brilliance, incredible passion for the work, and being genuinely nice to work with. On top of that, we also look for fit for very specific roles at times. Regarding the list above, it depends somewhat on the role what we need, but I’ve definitely never asked for someone’s child, first-born or otherwise 😉 Very much hope you’ve gone on to success elsewhere!
