Technical Animator Interview Questions

966 technical animator interview questions shared by candidates

None, it was the easiest interview ever. It was more like a get to know you type of interview, which was nice. They see if you are interested in the project for the most part. I was prepared for a much harder interview, but didn't have to worry. Most animators are not great interviewees, but that works in your favor. The biggest factor in getting the job will be your animation reel; if the leads and animation director like your work.

They were asking general questions about your skills in animation, modeling. It was visible that they don't actually understand what they are talking about in terms of technology. because as i understand, they just started their project and have nothing yet, neither the tech plan, the models, the code. At least 4 people were asking me the same questions in the row, I was waiting for 5(!!!) hours for someone to just pay attention to me and give me feedback, because they were asking 1-2 questions and disappeared for 30-40 minutes all the time! Also after first round of interview they said that on the second one I will be talking to gamedev team about the project but it was just another test task. 3d model something and draw something (although I clearly said I don't have this skill in my cv and the job has nothing to do with drawing, apparently. 'please just do it it's a part of the process'.
