Technical Editor Interview Questions

7,042 technical editor interview questions shared by candidates

Most of the questions were scenario questions such as "Describe a time when..." After 5-6 rounds of interviews, they got pretty repetitive. Most had to do with my past journalism experience. One of the stranger ones was "Think of a difficult question that you would like to ask me, the interviewer, about the job and then ask it." Others included "Tell me about a time when you disliked something about your job and why," "Tell me about a time you had to ask one of your sources a difficult or controversial question" and "Our company has gone through a lot of policy changes recently. Tell me about a time when your job changed its policies and how you reacted."

This is the assignment I was given: Part One: Content Recommendations Please write 2-3 SEO content recommendations for the Wellness channel, which includes the Fitness, Food, Family, Love & Sex, and Smart Living verticals. These should either be new, evergreen opportunities or updates of existing content that hasn’t been refreshed in the past two years. Please include a suggested SEO title and slug (if applicable); a list of keywords the post should target, along with their search volume; any on-page recommendations for better optimizing the post for search; and a list of any pieces of content that should be redirected to eliminate duplication. Part Two: SEO Rubrics Please suggest 2-3 SEO rubrics POPSUGAR should try. These can be across any vertical and should target consistently high-volume keywords with relatively low competition. In the past, we’ve seen success with How Many Kids? posts on Celebrity, for example. Part Three: Sharing Past Wins In a short paragraph, describe an SEO process, strategy, or set of best practices you’ve implemented that you are particularly proud of. Share how you set KPIs and how success was measured.
