Springing forth from the progressive and innovative thinking of its founder and CEO Jack Huang, the 51Talk platform was developed in China in 2011. It was established to address the need for proper teaching of conversational English in China. Mr. Huang believes that the Filipinos are the best choice to teach in the 51Talk platform because of their high English competency and their neutral accent; he also believes that their happy and friendly nature and familiarity with the Chinese culture makes them the best fit to teach Chinese students.
In June of 2016, 51Talk was listed in the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:COE) becoming the first, the largest, and the only Chinese online education platform currently listed and establishing its brand reputation as a global innovator.
Focusing on the K-12 one-on-one mass-market program and developing the K-12 small class offering, 51Talk released a new visual identity in February of 2018 that includes a redesigned logo and a new mascot, both designed to be more appealing to young learners.
Today, over 20,000 home-based online English teachers conduct over 100,000 lessons daily to thousands of Chinese students in 51Talk.
