Mission The Academy for Precision Learning's mission is to provide an innovative and transformational K-12 learning community that empowers neurodivergent students.
Description In November 2023, the Academy for Precision Learning was reorganized, under the direction of the Board of Directors. APL now has two co-Executive Directors overseeing the direction, vision, operations, and clinical/academic programming at the core of APL. The two co-EDs are Laura Barringer, a longtime school leader and former Special Education teacher, serving as Head of School, and Kristin Ojala, a seasoned BCBA/LBA, serving as the Clinic Director.
Collaboratively with the leadership team, Board of Directors, and incredible staff, APL has realigned its vision and core values to reflect a neurodiversity-affirming approach in both clinical services and education. Students are at the forefront of the decisions made at APL.
This has led to drastic improvements in the quality of instruction, high professional standards for faculty, clinicians, and BT staff, increased professional development opportunities, and as salaries that are aligned with living wages in Seattle. Through systems and policy creation, APL has increased communication with staff and families.
There has been a lot of changes, because there was a great need for change at APL; the organization is now in a place of renewal.
