Pros

Excellent workplace community If you started before the new CEO, excellent pay

Cons

The previous CEO had a passion for 717 both for it's members and it's employees. The new CEO John Demmler has a passion for building his resumé. Under the guise of marketing we have thrown thousands of dollars that could have benefitted our current members or advertising. We've wasted money having our name plastered on the Akron Rubber ducks stadium instead of using our resources to help end housing insecurity for our members. We're throwing events which are a great thing, but then abusing the workforce by making volunteering tied to performance reviews and cutting pay increases that already don't keep up with inflation for those who don't contribute labor. The volunteer requirement policy hurts those working here who have disabilities and don't have free time outside of taking care of their self and working as well as makes volunteering a soft requirement to maintain your employment. Policy on sick time changed this year have lead to a change from the policy of "take as much time as you need to get back to normal, and minimize spreading it to others" to "only take a day off if you're fully out of commission". Effectively making it more dangerous to work here if you are immunocompromised. Performance reviews require the CEO or senior VP to approve of anything above a 3 out of 5, and they list 'meeting all job requirements' as a 2. Meaning they can now fire anybody by showing that they score low even if they're an ideal employee. John Demmler is also attacking the union and has expressed wanting to dismantle it, even though it is key for the level of member service we provide. An employee who is well represented and well paid is a much better service representative than one who is struggling to get by.

Pros

Great pay Great benefits Build strong relationships

Cons

If in management and depending on location, may work a lot of hours. If you do well at your job, more will be added to your plate while others skate by. Hard to move up if you do not have a college degree.
