Pros
- Relaxed work environment - Not much pressure - Office parties are nice - People are nice - Lot of career opportunities because folks are leaving. - Java developers seem to have nice learning opportunities.
Cons
- CEO was not popular between employees. - People were not going to the office (not even for parties) - They removed the stock options. If you're a DevOps, also consider the following: - You will be doing mostly configurations in "in-house" developed platforms, and projects implemented by someone else - You will have access to change virtually nothing - Documentation? What's that? Maybe the person that implemented that certain tool still works in the company... - No real access control in place: you can either have zero access to AWS or have access to everything and nobody cares. - Getting access to platforms is a nightmare. After one year of working in 8x8, the team still had different access levels - Would you like to create a DNS entry? You probably will need a whole month of meetings and pinging people around to get it. - You will probably be supporting legacy systems.
