Pros

Relatively good pay and benefits. The organization is oftentimes collegial with good opportunities to learn new skills if you are driven to navigate the internal politics

Cons

Oftentimes unnecessarily bureaucratic to the extent decisions take a very long time, all too frequent reorganizations, overly meeting centric, and way too many internal reporting requirements.

Pros

AARP has some of the most intelligent and passionate people working in the organization. The culture is strong and everyone is marching towards the same goal to help serve the 50+. The organization is transitioning to a more innovative culture infusing a bit of the corporate world with the non-profit, which is exactly what it needs to survive another 50+ years.

Cons

With change comes old and new blood. The old way of doings things still lingers, but as new thinking and blood comes in the culture will shift.
