Pros

Strong name recognition very stable financially secure

Cons

extreme mircro managing, high nepotism when dividing territories, pay too low for the amount of work required, rediculous expectations, if you are not on the "buddy list" it's extremely difficult to make quota, constantly changing territories on sales people, management does not know how to manage tenured sales group. Management all from payroll, so management style is transactional when sales cycle is strategic. The job I accepted was not what was explained to me. If I knew what the job actually was I would have never accepted the offer. Divisions do not talk to each other. There is not incentive for divisions to work together. People steal deals right out from under you. A TS rep can do a $500K deal and end up with only $175K in sales credit because of splits. TS is the hardest thing I have ever had to sell. 95% of the companies in your territory will not get approved by underwriting so you are constantly looking for the last 5% to reach out. Management expects 4 appts per week. Finding those 4 appts that are "fits" is like looking for a needle in a haystack. If you don't have 4 appts, you are called on the carpet. My question is do you want good appts or 4 appts to keep mgt off your back.

Pros

ADP offers great business and is a good place to start your career. Some of the middle managers are young and if you are positive will allow you to offer suggestions and ideas.

Cons

The pay is dismally below industry average. After working for three years and receiving recognition from management and being a top producter, pay was still at 33k. Senior management is awful and seems to be sent to ADP Screening and Selection as a dying ground for bad management that has not performed well in other ADP areas. Management is unprofessional and micromanages to a degree that is unheard of as most companies are moving more toward the GE and Google models of innovation and creativity and freedom as what makes employees loyal and productive. Management also enacts client-facing policies to the detriment of the company. This is a good place to get your feet wet if starting your career. Do not consider this if you are an experienced professional, however. The degree of burearcray and incompetence will be shocking.

Pros

great benefits, great training and skill building position for an outside sale rep.

Cons

Extremely unperfessional management team. Cursing, yelling, embarrising, talking down to sales reps is a norm in the office. They treat the reps like children asking them to "see your cell phone". Reps are given false promises of being promoted if they meet goals. This NEVER EVER happens. The highest acheivers are NEVER promoted to a higher sales division yet they are always promised they will be "just one more quarter" on exceeding your quota and "well put you in management" or "send you to a higher sales division". The only reps that stay longer then a year are the ones who fall for this promise, continue to exceed company goals, and end up on the job 4-5 years in entry level untill they finally give up and leave.
