      Making Money in Spite of Itself

      Pros

      Numerous accolades and awards. Iconic global projects. Breadth of expertise.

      Cons

      No billable hours? No use for you! Zero job security. Abyssal management/leadership commitment to any long-term plan. Short-term Wall Street focus. Numerous re-orgs within months of each other. Poor integration of acquired companies (e.g., Hunt, Rust, Tishman, and URS). Continuously miss project expectations and disappoint customers. Nobody knows what's going on below the middle management level.

      Pros

      I remain optimistic that I'll soon find something likable about this company.

      Cons

      Typical mega-company merger. Acquire a company, slash every bit of compensation, benefit and bonus that's legally possible; retaliate against middle management when they stand up for their employees in the field. Maybe it's part of the plan to be so hostile that employees WANT to enter into a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

      Can't think of anything positive to say.

      Cons

      Little, if any, communication with employees. Employee survey a joke. IT outsourced to Mexico City and is useless. No single HR contact. Every HR function done via a nameless/faceless email address. Has destroyed all goodwill and vestiges of legacy companies including the elimination of multiple business lines.
