      Really interesting work but in a company with an identity crisis

      Pros

      Interesting and challenging work in weather models, atmospheric, oceanic, spectral research and applications.

      Cons

      The company seems to be constantly going through growing pains. The former focus was research, and it has grown into providing some commercial services as well. But they have struggled with their business model and company structure and that translates into lots of switching around, making your understanding of your role and any chance to advance tenuous.

      Pros

      I love my co-workers and have grown and developed my skills as an employee of AER. Growth and career advancement is encouraged. Strong benefits package.

      Cons

      Behind the times a little in terms of technology...for example, it's time to get electronic timesheets. I would also like more frequent upgrades of computer software and hardware.
