Business Outlook

Pros

The people you work with. Lots of Sick/PTO/Company vacation time. Easy to excell since some developers lack true passion/drive. Free drinks. There is a high level of trust put in developers We are moving into better and newer tech.

Cons

401k match is 2.5% to your 5% Upper management never seems to tell the truth, or waits until the last possible moment to let the bad news out. High Turnover due to terrible processes on the business side, generally low pay, poor CEO, and mistrust between employees and executive leadership teams. CEO doesn't know how to run a tech company. He is largely an embodiment of a bully, and is still stuck in the 90s thinking everything is done on the "business" side of operations while rarely ever acknowledging the tech side let alone their accomplishments. Sales are touted left and right even though we never meet sales goals. In fact we have not met sales goals for such a long time that we had to fire a large part of our dev staff pre-covid. Now, post covid, there is no money so no raises or bonuses and yet the CEO is still celebrating all the good the sales team is doing.

A very wise mentor once told me that all feedback is a gift. She advised me to sift through the emotion and find the facts because that is where the learnings are. So, while your Glassdoor post was hurtful to read for me personally, I am grateful because you helped me see something I have missed as the leader of our organization. As you indicated, I recently communicated to our employees about the impact of COVID-19 on our business performance in 2020 and how that outcome was going to impact merit increases and bonus payouts. Yes, the timing of the message was right before our annual process for merits and bonus, so I can understand your view of my communication being “last minute”. Knowing the message, I was sharing was a difficult message for employees to hear, I also wanted to use the communication to give everyone some good news. I chose to communicate about our sales performance because sales is the key indicator of growth and with growth comes good news for all employees. In that same communication, as you pointed out, I also highlighted the performance of our operations people. What I clearly failed to do, which you also pointed out, is to recognize and appreciate the contributions of our Software Engineering teams for their role in helping AGDATA. So, allow me to apologize, because I am genuinely sorry for failing you and your Engineering teammates in my communication and recognition. Without our technology transformation AGDATA would struggle to be successful. Our existing customers' needs are changing and the new technologies we have built are helping them achieve their own strategic objectives. These same technologies are also the driving force behind our sales team’s success, which ultimately fuels our growth. Interestingly enough, whenever I talk to a customer, I always start with the success of our technology transformation and based on your feedback it is clear I need to start doing that with my internal communications as well. As always, you are invited to seek me out personally or any of our management team if you wish to talk more openly about our company and our performance. J. Heffy Provost, CEO
