Great culture, stagnant future

Pros

Overall I loved my time at AIR MILES. I learned so much and felt that the team and the company invested in my growth and learnings. The company and team culture was great.

Cons

Often I felt that innovative ideas or projects were cancelled after months of work only to brought up again years later (all the work would be updated and redone before it was once again abandoned). Ultimately, I found this too frustrating to stay. Advice was only listened to when it came from outside consultants. Hopefully with Sobeys having left, AIR MILES will be quicker and more open to bigger ideas.

We take great pride in our range of initiatives that promote growth and learning. We also strive for an environment of innovation and I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get to experience this at AIR MILES. Indeed, innovation should come from within, and we have recently introduced a program called “Imagine If”, a new way for Associates to share their ideas and suggestions on opportunities for continual improvement. I certainly agree that the best ideas start with our Associates as they know better than anyone how we work as an organization. We believe that “Imagine If” is a key first step to empowering our Associates to try things differently, share different points of view and expand our thinking. Pros

I experienced good career growth opportunities; the clients I worked with were wonderful as was my core team and my direct manager

Cons

Management has struggled to communicate a clear and compelling vision for quite some time; when associates indicate they do not understand the vision, they are often met with gas lighting instead of understanding; culture is struggling with finger pointing and bullying; HR does not step in as appropriate; departments are not aligned across the organization (big challenges between Marketing, Client Services and Analytics); so many incredible associates, but without aligned leadership work does not move forward positively

We ensure to communicate our vision, strategic plan, and priorities during our monthly business reviews and to equip our Leaders with the information needed to discuss this further with their teams. We encourage a culture that is safe and inclusive and encourages collaboration, transparency, and trust. I am sorry that you experienced situations where this was not the case. One of our values is that we own our successes and our misses. I would encourage any Associate that has feedback and would like to see things done differently to speak with their Leader about it and/or a member of the HR team. In response to your feedback regarding salary, we work annually with available market data to ensure that our salary ranges remain competitive and recently launched a new framework to enable more career progression opportunities and increases in compensation. In addition to salary, we offer many other perks, rewards, and recognition to elevate the Associate experience. We are also dedicated to providing learning and development opportunities to support career growth. For example, for leaders like yourself, we have the Expedition program – it’s an 8-month program designed to build the next level capabilities of our future and current leaders. We also have a tuition reimbursement program that Associates can take advantage of to build their knowledge and develop their skills.
