Pros

Decent pay for recent grads. “Perks” such as company car (gas, insurance, maintenance included) can help you save a lot more right of out of the gate. You will learn to be extremely productive but will get burnt out quickly. Once you leave, you will run circles around your coworkers at your new company.

Cons

Zero translatable hard skills. This job should not require a college degree, as you will utilize nothing you learned while in school. You have to be willing to relocate (multiple times) for any chance of advancement. This is not ideal for someone with a family or significant other who is trying to advance their career as well. You are always on call and will come back from vacation more stressed out than when you left since things usually catch on fire if left unsupervised for more than 48 hours. You will get no real direction/development assistance from your director. Instead, they’ll walk your stores with you once a month or so, point out the floor machine needs to be ran and end it with a vague statement such as “this store just really needs your guidance” and then you’ll spend the next week playing senior store manager and questioning if you’re on the chopping block. Nine times out of ten, you’re not on the chopping block, they are just trying to get to you to work harder.

Pros

Professional leadership, opportunity to move up in your department if you are a hard worker and show good results. High salary if you reach store manager position. Good benefits, paid holidays

Cons

Very demanding, even if you show great results each year will ask for more and more. If you are new in your role they will give you time to adapt, but if you stay 10 years, then will expect you to do 10 times more for almost same pay as a new hire. Very fast paced and physical. Not for everyone - have to be to strong mentally and physically to be successful. Always operate with very minimal staff and if you fail to train your employees properly or fail to create a good culture at your store then your job could become a nightmare. Store associates and assistant managers are very underpaid for the work they have to perform which leads to high turnover

Pros

Nothing that other companies don't also provide. Sometimes your coworkers are OK, if they last.

Cons

Aldi was great pre pandemic but post pandemic has made employees the last on its priority of investments. The pay is lower than anywhere else, the work is significantly harder, and the amount of things on your plate is ridiculous for a so called unskilled position. The company made cash hand over fist during the pandemic, but since become a meme store they've spent loads money focusing on useless, outdated customer feedback strategies and expansion (55 stores in 1 year!), but nothing on employee retention.
