Pros

Nice 401k match. Hours go by quick if you’re a strong worker. Interacting with customers who become regulars over time. Starting pay is decent but pay increases are very small. Great job to keep you in shape physically.

Cons

Upper management denied a highly qualified former shift manager for a district manager position because Aldi didn’t want anybody with in-store experience to be a DM. That sounds extremely shady, doesn’t it? Hours are very inconsistent: they can schedule you for 32 hours in a week and you’re still considered “full-time”. Days off and shift times are never the same, it’s randomized retail. Aldi corporate policies are constantly changing, requiring tons of extra work to rearrange stores without corporate giving the store extra productivity hours to complete it. Turnover rate is really high because lazy people come in thinking it’s a sit and scan cashier job, when in fact a store associate does more than your average grocery store worker.

Pros

Good benefits like health insurance and 401k

Cons

Tons of work. Your reward for hard work will be more hard work while the less competent employees get away with being on a cash register all day. District managers get on everyone's case about minor things like cleaning floors instead of hiring much needed employees Or more important matters. Most of the time they're just in the way. There's a high turnover rate. People quit on their before their probation period or are scared away then the few hardworking people left are given the extra weight.

Pros

The pay is decent for a grocery store. You also get a 30 minute paid lunch. So, you are scheduled usually from either 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m or 2:00 p.m to 10:00p.m.

Cons

Management frowns upon you having a break besides your one 30 minute paid break. Being such a fast pace place to work, it is really hard on your body so if you are not go go go, it's not for you. If you are working the first shift, you are timed on how fast you put the pallets out. And, the reason we slam your groceries into the cart is because we are timed on that as well.
