Pros

The benefits are great, & keep me there longer than I felt welcome.

Cons

No diversity on store management level ( depending on demographics) Upstate S.C. Poor communication from upper management to MT's & below. If you're an African American in this area in management don't expect to EVER have your own store. It's never happened, although I pray it does.

Pros

Starting pay was well above minimum wage. Few store workers which cuts down on work drama. The store is closed early at night, opens later on Sunday's and closed most holidays.

Cons

Manual labor is intense with unloading pallets. Stocking the fridge and freezer can be challenging to those sensitive to cold temperatures. You are timed for how many items you can scan per minute, and they have extremely fast standards which causes a delima with good customer service.

Pros

Competitive starting hourly pay, Cigna health insurance package is decently priced, dental & vision plans are relatively cheap for employees. I was promoted extremely fast.

Cons

NO UNION. Zero work/life balance, long intrusive hours, 100% micromanaged, high turnover rate, no breaks (but if your able to get one on a special occassion, its at the end of your shift...so your a "hostage" before your able to leave). No set schedules. The business model looks superb on paper but isnt possible to execute, no respect for any employee who has a family. 30 minute pallet times. The company rewards only the employees are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Aldi took away 2 holidays & extended Sunday hours for all employees while upgrading Division managers company paid vehicles from Toyota Camrys to Audis. I get called in early at least once a week and forced to stay late at least 3-4 times per week. Alarm company calls my phone after 2am at least twice a week. Working closing then opening shifts are a weekly regularity (Working 10 hours then sleeping 4 before working another 8-10 hours). Employee handbook is only enforced when it benefits management. Scheduling is a year long disaster! Store Managers only have to close 1 night per week and work 1 Saturday per month. So managers forget to schedule coverage for certain shifts or will call off employees to save labor hours because they get a monthly bonus which employees do not receive. Store operates on a "skeleton" staff, meaning 8 employees is maximum hired at once and only 2 employees often run the entire store. Customers are rude due to subpar store conditions due to understaffing. 3 employees are all that are staffed to unload trucks in the mornin before the store opens. Tuesday nights you work 1pm until midnight to 4am.
