Pros

cheap benefits, decent starting wage- overpaid for a cashier but underpaid for stocking work.

Cons

lots of cons- unappreciative management, backbreaking stocking work for pay. Way too many upper managers. District managers have only two or three stores. 3 operations managers in a division. 4 presidents of the company. And they expect you to run a million dollar a month store with three people on a shift. front lines need more help as opposed to the underworked overpaid upper management. Unrealistic expectations lead to the Wells Fargo effect where corners are cut and quality suffers. You are under so much pressure to put out product that employees dont rotate properly-- new produce being thrown on top of old produce, etc. they want you to ring up so fast that product is getting damaged and going the extra mile for, say, and elderly person is frowned upon because your ring time is too slow. They dangle shift manager pay when you are hired but you only get that pay when the manager isnt there and there are sometimes 3 or 4 shift managers already on staff ahead of you.

Pros

I was just hired and am going through training. It's a lot of work, so the work day flies by. The company places value in fairness , and seems to really care for its employees.

Cons

Upon hiring, you are required to attend a welcome day. It was awesome to be set up with a free hotel room, but the two hour travel is a slight inconvenience. As well as traveling to a different city 45 minutes away to train.

Pros

I've been working with aldi for 2 1/2 years. I work as an associate/cashier. The job has good benefits for those that work full time it comes with medical, vision, and dental and you also have the option to enroll in a 401k plan (also for full time) the starting salary is also really good. The starting salary for my store is $12 an hour for cashiers/ associates , $16 an hour for shift managers and $25 an hour for store managers. The job also gives payee vacations along with personal and sick days. When store associates are not stocking they are ringing at the register and we get to sit down for the amount of time we ring and we don't bag the customers items.

Cons

Aldi doesn't seem to like to hire alot of people. Often we are short staffed. We get timed on the register , they expect the cashiers to get the lines down as fast as they can which makes a lot of customers angry because they say that the cashiers throw their stuff in the cart and a lot of people expect the cashiers to bag their stuff for them. Cashiers do everything in the store from stocking to cleaning to ringing to unloading pallets in the morning. The schedules vary from week to week and usually full time workers don't get the full 40 hours except in the summer full time workers get up to 47 hours per week. Also the associates that come unload the truck are expected to ring and don't have much time to unload the truck and usually are expected to stay past the time they are scheduled to. Cashiers are expected to count their own money drawer and make a deposit before they leave which takes like an extra 20 minutes after the time they are scheduled to. Also they really don't care about how they schedule you the store closes at 9 but employees don't leave until everything is done which can be up to 12am and sometimes the people that close are expected to unload a truck the next day at 6am less than 6 hours of sleep.
