Pros

Alstom is a well established company with solid customer base. They are diverse in the world of power generation although many of these resources are scattered around the world. They have good benefits and fair compensation. There is a good balance between work and home life.

Cons

There are limited advancement opportunities unless you are willing to relocate. For this reason personnel that become managers may not be the best candidate for a position, they may be the only one who applied. Technically, the company is driven from the bottom up, with managers who, both don't know enough, and don't care.

Pros

Great pay, benefits, work environment and very interesting and clean work. For Chattanooga this place is really hard to beat. Facility is very impressive and well maintained.

Cons

Products not competative enough to beat competition and stay in business in global marketplace. 60% of workforce eliminated due to lack of work. Getting laid off due to closing of turbine rotor manufacturing line. As conditions change company may rehire many of us.

Pros

- enough work to keep you busy. - friendly colleagues, - they value engineering staff - willing to train inexperienced staff

Cons

- excessive management in structure. - they let go of talents at bad economies. When businesses are back, they don't have enough talents to accomplish projects. Overloading occurs and there is no overtime compensation.
