Pros

Strong union representation at this location, reasonable management, wages compared to cost of living are decent for this area, good relationship with local FDs, "echo status" limits holdovers

Cons

Lacks structure and uniformity, tolerates medics/EMTs with bad bedside manner, strange culture in which employees are constantly writing each other up

Pros

Opportunity for growth within the company and opportunity to do standbys and work events outside of the typical ambulance response.

Cons

Poor leadership beyond the field supervisors. I saw my division supervisor more often in the bathroom than anywhere else - never on the floor where ambulances were deployed, hardly ever talked to crews except when a problem arose. Private ambulance is a business. If I keeled over dead they'd put a nice little black band over their badges for 10 minutes, but fill my spot with another body just as quickly.
