Big city 911 contracts, nationwide locations, neverending job security, field crew camaraderie that only military/fire/pd/ems can understand, infinite opportunity to make differences in lives, an immense sense of accomplishment at the end of every shift, adrenaline galore

Cons

For profit company, management greed, pay sucks, for profit company, do not ever get hurt by anyone else's hands because the company will try to fire you asap (illegal), company uses evil tactics and companies to handle injuries that get you the worst care possible and delay what you really need, which makes you worse.

Moral gets low, but it's understandable considering what these folks deal with on a daily basis. Overall this is a hard working bunch, and if you are tough enough to surrvive the daily grind, there is a ton of opportunity to learn and grow professionally.

There are good co-workers that make the day go faster and the work is not that hard depending on the position you are in when they hire you.

Cons

Management is not very responsive to your needs in the workplace, and they do not always treat you with respect which is a big negative. They care more about themselves than others depending on your position in the company.
